Liz served in the US Army, US Army Reserve, and the US Air Force Reserve consecutively, from 1984 - 2005, is a former Army paratrooper, Desert Storm combat veteran, and retired as a Major in 2005. She was also an Air Force military spouse for 24 years and
traipsed around the country, raising and homeschooling twins and taking care of/supporting military families and spouses. She now resides in southern Nevada with her young adult twins
who are pursuing careers in circus arts.

Author
Liz Ciufo is a long-time writer, but a new author. She delights in telling stories based on real-life events and experiences and is currently working on a children's series called "Better with Betsy" which is about growing up on a small farm, in a rural town in southwestern Colorado. She has published two children's books called "Skips Dog Lola" and "Jessicas Dog Cody" which are about her daughters experiences volunteering for non-profit organizations involving dogs. Liz's third book is an International Impact Book Award winning memoir of her experience as a US Army Military Intelligence Officer in Desert Storm, based on an original journal, entitled, A Shoe in the Sand - A Look Behind for the Journey Ahead.

Liz was born in California in the early 1960s but grew up mostly in a small town on the
western slope of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. She holds a master’s degree in education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.

Liz is the proud granddaughter of Italian immigrants who came through Ellis Island in the 1920s and carries a keen sense of family and roots that reaches back to Europe. The name Ciufo (pronounced Choo Foe) is straight from her first-generation Italian father. She loves cooking, providing hospitality to friends and family, hanging out with her children, reading, crafting, gardening, and writing.
